Sumter County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. Its county seat is Sumter. The 2000 census recorded its population to be 104,646. In 2005, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that its population had reached 105,517. It is included in the Sumter Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the home of Shaw AFB.
