Mount Pleasant is a suburban town in Charleston County, South Carolina, United States, within the Charleston–North Charleston Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the fifth largest municipality in South Carolina. The population was 47,609 at the 2000 census. As of 2007, the town had an estimated population of 64,707. Mount Pleasant is included within the Charleston-North Charleston Urbanized Area and the Charleston-North Charleston Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the 3rd largest municipality in this metro behind Charleston and North Charleston.
